the story behind...
graceGrace actually came to me (literally) as I began to envision the end of the Bright Jewels recordings. Steve was over and we had been working on Tongue-Tied and I came up with this little verse melody. I played it for him and asked him if I had nicked it from somewhere and he said no, he didn't think so, and he liked it. It was cut very sparsely, the twelve-strings & vocal taking up most of the space. The lead vocal is the first take. It was rough but felt very confident so I figured I'd said what I wanted to say and that was it. The opening snippet is from a phone solicitation that intrigued me so much in its audacity that I saved it to tape.
